November 2022 - updates

So I'm still working a lot on Desideratum.

I gave myself a huge "first project" as a developer. The story is based off of something I wrote in a script writing class as a short at university, but in 2020 I started fleshing it out and realized the story is much more interesting if you have choices. So I built a bunch of flow charts and started working on the story.

I'm lucky to be someone who plays a lot of independent games made by single people or very small studios. It's given me the mental fortitude to keep going on the project.

The story line has a major split, and then some smaller choices that lead to different endings. I have one half of the split written, and it's about 20k words. I'm working on the second half and it's taking much longer because honestly this side of the playthrough was originally a lot more "preachy" and has become also more dark and lore based instead of what it was, but it's requiring a lot more planning than I thought. I thought I had this half of the story nailed down but it's changing moment by moment so it's a lot more mental effort.

I'm about 2/3 of the way done with it, so while I was hoping to be done by 12/1, I'm not going to likely be done until January 1st, 2023. (This is also because I was out of town and I've had a lot of other things I've been working on as the holidays get closer.)

I have been making sure to keep going on it even though it seems daunting because of the additional planning.

I also have continued to work with the artist I'm working with who I've had draw art for Jane and Victor (I didn't realize I wanted Victor to have art until I finished the "Yes" ending story line, and I still haven't written him in to the "No" story line!) and I'm waiting for her to send the art for the winter and work out scenes for Greg and Catherine.

Anyway I'm still working! I hope to be going back to some dev stuff soon, but really want to solidify the end of the "No" story before I move in to that. Doing more AI art for background as tests, as AI art gets better. Attaching some images that I combined and did a little color temping on.
