NaNoRenO - week 3

Another short update since I'm working hard!

I got all the puzzles written and the images created for them. This was a HUGE task because I don't know much about editing images, and it took a lot of trial and error. It maybe took me 8 hours do to this but spaced out it looks more like

  • 3 hours - making mistakes and learning things
  • 1 hours - redoing everything I did, processwise, and deleting everything
  • 4 hours - actually making the images

It feels very reminiscent of when I was starting out in Blender - I know now if I went back into Blender the tasks I did that took me 5 hours would take more like 2, but getting there is very stressful.

I also tried doing a lot of nature art for the graveyard scenes, and I realized (again after like 5 hours lol) that I just don't have the skill to do what I'm trying to do, at this point. My solution to that is that in my head, I'm already basing this off of a real graveyard location I've been to! That graveyard is close enough to me that I can go this weekend and take pictures.

I consider myself a very competent photographer, but I really wasn't utilizing that skill for making games for some reason. It's good timing for me to decide this because it should help me with a lot of the background art that I still need to create.

At this point, I've made enough space in the character dialogue and choices in my mind that I can go re-read them with a fresh eye and the notes my husband gave me, and then have much better flowing work.

The only thing I have yet to touch at this point is the music. I think I can make it simple and get by with that, though I wish I had more time for it.
