Pet is a horror visual novel about being in a city after a fun day out and how sometimes you gotta get home to take care of your cat.
It's a late night on an unseasonably warm day. On your way home to feed your cat Kuma, you stumble upon a vending machine in a dark alley.
This game should take around 60 minutes to complete.
As this is meant to be played in one setting, you cannot manually save. The game does save between endings, so if you close while at the main menu, you can pick up where you left off, but there's no way to save during each playthrough.
There are no jump scares but there are some light visual effects like screen tearing and glitches.
Features:
- ~7k words
- working vending machine
- 4(?) distinct endings depending on player choice
- cat
Trigger warnings for discussion of alcohol use and discussion of pet loss.

I personally didnt find the game scary... More overwhelmingly sad. The true ending made me so upset that I had to replay the whole game to not unlock it this time.
But all in all - really enjoyed the game, pls continue creating new masterpieces!
(spoiler alert)
I wish the true ending wasnt as sad as it turned out... the creature promised to love us after all... ,__,
also I wish I could find some fanart based on this game. its so unfortunate that its not that well known...
there’s one piece of fan art! I posted it on my Twitter. I’m glad you liked it even if it was very sad for you! Appreciate your time to play and comment. ❤️
although the game starts calm and cozy, it has some surrealistic bits sprinkled here and there from the beginning. from there, it grows into a full-blown cosmic horror experience! i genuinely felt an existential dread at some point haha
also, all the purple and glitchy implementations are working really well within the style, masterfully done!♡
oh and i almost forgot i'm going to make a fan art for this, where can i send it to?
Thank you so much! You can send me things at beepsalt@gmail.com. I appreciate you enjoying the world I made!
beautiful game, loved the music!! can't wait to get all the endings :)
Thank you so much! I appreciate you <3
There's a very secret ending if you look hard enough (it's not on the list!).
So I played the 0.8 build before release as well as the 1.0 build. The addition of the music is fantastic and the small sound effects make a huge difference. The artwork maintains an excellent atmosphere and the "additional" ending is just perfect. Well worth playing and for sure worth at least $5
Thank you!! I appreciate your help with the playtesting and your kind comments.
Love it! Really solid way to have a visual novel with a hook that brings you back again for the other endings. The UI for endings and items was fantastic! Great job.
Thank you so much!! Appreciate you taking the time to play it.
Such a neat little experience.
The "creepy weird town atmosphere" was quite well done, and it's also very noticeable to see how the writing improved from "Guest", as I thought it flowed far better in "Pet". Overall, a fantastic job, can't wait for your next project!
Thank you so much for playing! I appreciate that I'm improving. <3
